Sergey Danilovich Lugansky

Sergey Danilovich Lugansky was a distinguished Soviet fighter pilot and twice Hero of the Soviet Union, born on October 1, 1918, in Verny (now Almaty). He served as a commander of a fighter squadron during World War II, achieving remarkable success with 390 combat missions and shooting down 37 enemy aircraft. Lugansky's contributions to the Soviet air force played a vital role in key battles, including the Battle of Kursk, and he continued to serve in various military capacities after the war.
