Simon Sinas
Simon Sinas (1810-1876) was a prominent Greek merchant and philanthropist born in Vienna to a wealthy family of merchants from Moschopolis. After taking over his family's business, he focused on agricultural production and contributed significantly to Greek education and culture. Sinas served as the Greek ambassador to Austria and was instrumental in funding major projects in Greece, including the construction of the Academy of Athens and the Athens Observatory. His philanthropic legacy continued through his wife, Ifigeneia Gika, though he never visited Greece during his lifetime.
