Sugiman Soponyono

Sugiman Soponyono, a former political prisoner from Rembang, Jawa Tengah, faced unjust accusations of political involvement at the age of 20 amidst the anti-communist purge in Indonesia. Lacking formal education and understanding of the political landscape, he was labeled as a political dissident simply for attending cultural events associated with the PKI. After his release and the closing of the detention camp, he decided to stay in Buru, where he has sought to improve his life.
