Sugito
Sugito is an 83-year-old former political prisoner from Sleman, Yogyakarta, who was unjustly detained during the political upheaval following the Gerakan 30 September (G30S) in Indonesia. With only a primary school education, he was taken by the military in 1967 under allegations of political involvement, which he vehemently denies. After enduring years of torture and confinement in various prisons, he ultimately settled in Buru, Maluku, where he has been trying to rebuild his life on the land provided to him.
