Svetlana Tikhanouskaia

Svetlana Tikhanouskaia is a prominent Belarusian opposition leader and former presidential candidate who emerged as a key figure in the anti-Lukashenko movement after her husband, Serguei Tikhanovski, was imprisoned. Following his arrest in 2020, she took up the mantle of leadership, campaigning for democratic reforms and garnering significant support both domestically and internationally. Despite facing severe repression, including a 15-year prison sentence in absentia for charges widely regarded as politically motivated, Tikhanouskaia continues to advocate for the release of political prisoners and the establishment of democracy in Belarus.
