Tal Brody

Tal Brody is a celebrated Israeli basketball legend, known for his pivotal role with Maccabi Tel Aviv and the Israeli national team. Born in the United States, Brody made his mark in college basketball before moving to Israel in the 1960s. He led Maccabi Tel Aviv to numerous championships, including the club's first European Cup victory in 1977, famously declaring, 'We're on the map and we're staying on the map.' Brody's accolades include winning the Israel Prize in 1979 and lighting a torch at Israel's Independence Day celebrations. He is recognized for his significant contributions to basketball in Israel, having won 10 Israeli championships and 6 State Cups throughout his illustrious career. Brody is currently among the finalists for the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame's 2025 class.
