Theodor Herzl
Theodor Herzl (1860-1904) was an Austro-Hungarian journalist and the founding father of modern political Zionism. He is best known for advocating the establishment of a Jewish state as a solution to anti-Semitism and the plight of Jews in Europe. Herzl organized the First Zionist Congress in 1897, which laid the groundwork for the Jewish national movement. His vision for a homeland for the Jewish people was articulated in his seminal work, 'Der Judenstaat' (The Jewish State), and he remains a central figure in the history of Jewish nationalism and the founding of the State of Israel.
