Yang's other notable contributions include the Yang-Mills theory, which has become a cornerstone of modern particle physics. Born in Hefei, Anhui, China, he showed exceptional mathematical talent from a young age and pursued his education at Tsinghua University and later in the United States. Despite spending much of his career abroad, Yang maintained a strong connection to his homeland, contributing to academic exchanges and supporting educational initiatives in China.
