Abdelrahman ElGendy

Abdelrahman ElGendy is a former political prisoner from Egypt who fled to the United States to escape persecution. He spent six years in prison on political charges before moving to the U.S. to work on a memoir set to be released next year. After witnessing the rise of authoritarianism in America and fearing for his safety following the detention of a fellow Egyptian activist, ElGendy decided to leave the U.S., expressing gratitude for his timely departure as he observed increasingly oppressive patterns reminiscent of his experiences in Egypt.
