Alexander Skobov

Alexander Skobov is a 67-year-old Russian dissident who was recently sentenced to 16 years in a penal colony for charges related to 'justifying terrorism' and 'participating in a terrorist community.' Known for his anti-government activism since the Soviet era, Skobov published an anti-regime magazine and was previously subjected to forced psychiatric treatment. He was an active participant in the anti-war movement during the First Chechen War and later became a member of the 'Yabloko' party. Skobov has been a vocal critic of Vladimir Putin's regime and opposed the war in Ukraine, leading to his designation as a 'foreign agent' by the Ministry of Justice. His recent arrest stemmed from his involvement in the 'Forum of Free Russia,' and while in detention, he has experienced severe health issues.
