Alexey Berest
Alexey Berest was a Soviet lieutenant who gained fame as one of the soldiers who raised the Victory Banner over the Reichstag in Berlin on May 1, 1945, marking a pivotal moment in World War II. He was scheduled to carry the Victory Banner during the 1965 Victory Day Parade, but was unable to do so due to injuries sustained during the war.
