Meliton Kantaria was a Soviet sergeant known for being one of the soldiers who hoisted the Victory Banner over the Reichstag in Berlin in 1945. He was also supposed to participate in the 1965 Victory Day Parade, where the banner was finally displayed, but injuries prevented him from carrying it himself.
