Mikhail Egorov was a Soviet sergeant celebrated for his role in raising the Victory Banner atop the Reichstag in Berlin, an iconic symbol of the Soviet victory in World War II. His involvement in the 1965 Victory Day Parade was also notable, as the banner was presented publicly for the first time two decades after the war.
