
Benoît XIII
Benoît XIII, also known as Pope Benedict XIII, was an Avignon Pope who led during the tumultuous period of the Western Schism. Elected in 1394, he faced challenges from rival claimants to the papacy and ultimately fled to Nice in 1406 due to the plague, where he was visited by Saint Colette.
