Catherine Benincasa

Catherine Benincasa, later known as Saint Catherine of Siena, was a prominent mystic and activist during the 14th century. She is best known for her influential role in urging the papacy to return to Rome after it had resided in Avignon for nearly 70 years. Her journey alongside Pope Gregory XI in 1376 marked a significant moment in her life and in the history of the Church.
