
Jean Duèze
Born in Cahors in 1244, Jean Duèze became Pope John XXII in 1316 after serving as the Bishop of Fréjus. His election was controversial, and he survived two assassination attempts during his tenure as bishop. Notably, he was involved in significant political and religious issues of his time, including the papal relocation to Avignon, where he governed until 1334, living to the remarkable age of 90.
