Charles Guiteau
Charles Guiteau was an American lawyer and writer who is best known for assassinating President James A. Garfield in 1881. Guiteau believed that he was responsible for Garfield's election and sought to take credit for his political success. After shooting Garfield at a train station in Washington, D.C., he was arrested, tried, and ultimately convicted of murder, leading to his execution in 1882.
