Diogo de Souza

Diogo de Souza was the governor and captain general of the Capitanía of Rio Grande do Sul, who sought to maintain Spanish control over Paraguay during its revolutionary period. He ordered Portuguese troops to secure Spanish authority in the region, attempting to thwart the independence movement.
