Eugenio Colorni was an Italian intellectual and anti-fascist activist who contributed to the foundations of European integration. Born in 1909, he was imprisoned on Ventotene Island during World War II, where he collaborated with Altiero Spinelli and Ernesto Rossi to write the 'Ventotene Manifesto.' After the war, he became actively involved in the Italian resistance against Nazi occupation and continued to promote the idea of a united Europe until his untimely death in 1944.
