
Iryna Farion
Iryna Farion was a prominent Ukrainian linguist, philologist, and political figure, known for her advocacy of the Ukrainian language and culture. She served as a professor at Lviv Polytechnic and was a member of the Ukrainian Parliament from 2012 to 2014. Farion was actively involved in promoting Ukrainian identity and fought against initiatives that threatened the use of the Ukrainian language. Tragically, she was murdered in July 2024, prompting calls for her posthumous recognition as a Hero of Ukraine for her contributions to education and national identity.
