Isidro Baldenegro

Isidro Baldenegro was a renowned Rarámuri environmentalist and activist dedicated to the fight against illegal logging in the Sierra Tarahumara region of Mexico. He was awarded the Goldman Environmental Prize for his efforts to protect the forest and the rights of indigenous peoples. Unfortunately, he was assassinated in 2017, reflecting the perilous environment for activists advocating for environmental protection in Mexico.
