Jean-Michel Nicolier

volunteer France

Jean-Michel Nicolier was a French volunteer who joined the Croatian War of Independence in 1991, driven by a deep desire to help the Croatian people. He arrived in Croatia with a determination to defend a country he had only seen on television, and he ultimately paid the ultimate price for his commitment when he was killed by Serbian forces at Ovčara in November 1991. Posthumously honored with numerous accolades, including the Memorial Plaque of Vukovar and the Order of Nikola Šubić Zrinski, Nicolier's legacy continues to symbolize the strong bond between Croatia and France.
