Kim Young-sook

Kim Young-sook is known as the official wife of Kim Jong-il, the former leader of North Korea. As the daughter of a high-ranking military official, her marriage to Kim Jong-il was politically motivated and arranged by Kim Il-sung, the founder of North Korea. She had two daughters with Kim Jong-il, making her the matriarch of a significant branch of the Kim dynasty, though she was not directly involved in the power struggles that surrounded the succession of her husband.
