
Kim Il-sung
Kim Il-sung was the founding leader of North Korea, serving as the country's premier from its establishment in 1948 until his death in 1994. He is known for his cult of personality, the establishment of a one-party state, and his significant role in the Korean War. Under his leadership, North Korea adopted a policy of Juche, or self-reliance, which shaped the nation's political and economic systems. He is also remembered for commissioning the construction of monumental structures, including mausoleums.
