Kiyoshi Tanimoto was a Methodist minister in Hiroshima who experienced the atomic bombing firsthand. He suffered from acute radiation syndrome and became one of the six survivors whose stories were told by journalist John Hersey in his influential article, shedding light on the horrors of the event.
