Manuel Roberto Farías Laguna is a vice admiral in the Mexican Navy who was recently detained by the Fiscalía General de la República (FGR) for his alleged involvement in a fiscal fuel theft scheme, known as 'huachicol fiscal'. He is the nephew by marriage of former Secretary of the Navy, José Rafael Ojeda Durán, and has been linked to accusations of nepotism and corruption within the Navy. Prior to his arrest, he commanded the 12th Naval Zone in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco.
