Moshé Maimónides
Moshé Maimónides, also known as Rabbi Moses ben Maimon or Rambam, was a preeminent medieval Jewish philosopher, astronomer, and physician. Born in Cordoba, Spain, in 1135, he became a key figure in Jewish thought and law, best known for his works, including 'The Guide for the Perplexed' and 'Mishneh Torah.' Maimonides significantly influenced both Jewish and Islamic philosophy, advocating for rationalism and the integration of philosophical inquiry with religious belief. He passed away in 1204.
