Nikolai Gumilev
Nikolai Gumilev was a prominent Russian poet, playwright, and literary critic, born in 1886. He was one of the leading figures of the Acmeism movement, which emphasized clarity and precision in poetry, contrasting with the Symbolism that preceded it. Gumilev's works often drew on themes of adventure and nature, as well as his deep interest in the exotic and the mystical. His life was cut short when he was executed in 1921 during the Red Terror, a victim of the political repression that targeted many intellectuals and artists in post-revolutionary Russia.
