Sir Adolphe-Basile Routhier

Sir Adolphe-Basile Routhier was a Canadian lawyer, politician, and poet, renowned for writing the French lyrics of 'O Canada,' which were commissioned for the 1880 St. Jean Baptiste Day celebrations. Born in 1839 in Saint-Étienne-de-Lauzon, Quebec, Routhier's contributions to Canadian literature and culture earned him recognition and honors, including a knighthood in 1900 for his services to the nation.
