Vilijam H. Sjuard

William H. Seward was an influential American politician and Secretary of State under Presidents Abraham Lincoln and Andrew Johnson, noted for his role in the purchase of Alaska from Russia in 1867. Often ridiculed at the time for what was seen as a frivolous expenditure, Seward's diplomatic efforts have since been recognized as a significant achievement that expanded U.S. territory and resources.
