Dahud Hanid Ortiz
Dahud Hanid Ortiz is a former U.S. Marine and dual citizen of Venezuela and the United States, who was convicted in January 2024 for a triple homicide committed in Madrid in 2016. After fleeing to Venezuela, he was arrested and sentenced to 30 years in prison for the murders of three individuals, including two women and a client mistakenly identified as his intended target. In a controversial prisoner exchange facilitated by the U.S. government, Ortiz was released and returned to Texas in October 2023, sparking outrage as he was included among political prisoners despite his violent criminal history.
