Elena Vavilyna

Elena Vavilyna, born in 1901 in Brăila, was a Romanian painter who experienced significant challenges during the communist era, including arrest for political agitation. A graduate of the School of Fine Arts in Bucharest and the Julian Academy in Paris, she gained recognition for her landscape paintings, particularly of the Balkans. Her artistic journey was marked by her resilience against political repression.
