Jonas Žemaitis-Vytautas
Jonas Žemaitis-Vytautas was a prominent Lithuanian partisan leader and a key figure in the armed resistance against Soviet occupation. He played a crucial role in the signing of the Lithuanian Freedom Fight Council's Declaration in 1949, which served as a foundational document for the modern Lithuanian state. Tragically, he did not live to see Lithuania regain its independence, having died as a result of his resistance efforts.
