Lai Ching-te
Lai Ching-te is a Taiwanese politician serving as the Vice President of Taiwan since 2020. He is a member of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and has been an advocate for Taiwan's sovereignty and democratic values. Lai's recent prominence in the news stems from his speech during Taiwan's National Day celebrations, which was perceived by China as provocative, leading to increased military maneuvers and air incursions by Chinese forces into Taiwan's air defense identification zone.
