Mauro Marcano
Mauro Marcano was a Venezuelan journalist and councilman who gained notoriety for his accusations against high-ranking military officials, including the head of the National Guard, regarding their involvement in drug trafficking. His allegations led to the coining of the term 'Cartel de los Soles' in 2004, linking the Venezuelan government to narcotrafficking. Tragically, Marcano was assassinated in September 2004, shortly before he was set to make further revelations about the cartel.
