Nicolás II (1868–1918) was the last Emperor of Russia, ruling from 1894 until his abdication during the Russian Revolution in 1917. After abdicating, he and his family were placed under house arrest, and he was later executed by Bolsheviks in 1918, marking the end of centuries of Romanov rule in Russia.
