Otto Warmbier

Otto Warmbier was an American student who gained international attention after being detained in North Korea in January 2016 for allegedly attempting to steal a propaganda poster. He was sentenced to 15 years of hard labor but fell into a coma shortly after his trial. In June 2017, he was returned to the United States in a vegetative state, leading to widespread outrage and condemnation of North Korea's treatment of foreign detainees.
