John Schrank
John Schrank was a German immigrant who attempted to assassinate former President Theodore Roosevelt in 1912 while he was campaigning for a third term. Schrank shot Roosevelt in the chest, but the bullet was slowed by a metal case and papers in his pocket, allowing Roosevelt to survive the attack.
