Robert F. Kennedy was an American politician and lawyer who served as the U.S. Attorney General from 1961 to 1964 under his brother, President John F. Kennedy. He was a prominent advocate for civil rights and social justice, and he played a key role in the fight against organized crime. Tragically, Kennedy was assassinated on June 5, 1968, shortly after delivering a victory speech following his win in the California primary during his campaign for the presidency. His assassination further deepened the national trauma surrounding political violence in the United States.
