Vladimir Herzog
Vladimir Herzog was a Brazilian journalist and the director of journalism at TV Cultura who became a symbol of the human rights abuses during Brazil's military dictatorship. He was arrested, tortured, and killed in 1975, with his death initially staged as a suicide in an attempt to cover up the state's role in his murder. Herzog's case has become emblematic of the struggles for justice and recognition faced by victims of political repression in Brazil.
