José Pepe Mujica
José Alberto Mujica, born on May 20, 1935, in Cordano, Montevideo, is a former Uruguayan guerrilla fighter, politician, and farmer who served as the 40th president of Uruguay from 2010 to 2015. Known for his humble lifestyle and progressive policies, Mujica was a key figure in the Movimiento de Liberación Nacional-Tupamaros during the 1960s and spent over a decade imprisoned during the Uruguayan military dictatorship. After his presidency, he continued to engage in politics as a senator until 2020. Recently, he made headlines due to his health announcement, revealing that he is suffering from cancer and has decided to cease treatment, expressing a wish to spend his remaining time in peace with his wife.
