Victoria Amelina was a Ukrainian novelist and children's writer, known for her efforts to document war crimes during the Russian invasion of Ukraine. She founded a literary festival in her hometown of New York, Donetsk, and after the war began in February 2022, she transitioned to humanitarian work and volunteered as a war crimes researcher. Tragically, she died in June 2023 due to injuries sustained in a Russian missile strike.
