Ahn Hak-sop is a 95-year-old veteran of the Korean War who has dedicated his life to the ideals of North Korea. After being captured in 1953 and imprisoned for over 42 years in South Korea for refusing to renounce his political beliefs, he has lived in poverty and isolation in his village near the North Korean border. Recently, he attempted to cross into North Korea, expressing a desire to spend his final days in the country he has remained loyal to, but was stopped by South Korean authorities citing national security laws.
